New Industrial Facilities

With a USD 2.7 million investment, the project includes civil work and additional facilities, new sawmill machinery, further expansion of drying chambers, purchase of mobile machinery and improvement of the areas of influence.
Construction work started in December 2006 with the new layout and implementation of the civil works and concluded in December 2007 with start-up..
Official Opening Ceremony (May 2008)
On May 14, coinciding with the 83rd anniversary of the Caja de Jubilaciones y Pensiones Bancarias, the official opening of the new industrial facilities took place.
Start-up (December 2007)
By a team of Forestal Caja Bancaria collaborators and foreign technicians.
Drying Chambers (October 2007)
New wood drying chambers started operating.
Machinery and Conveyors (September 2007)
Machines and conveyors were placed in their final positions. The support structures are made of different materials: reinforced concrete was used for the highest requirements, and metal beams for the others.
Installation of catwalks, perimeter railing and other small jobs.
The compressed air system was built and connected to machinery and working points.
Cable trays laid for cables connecting to motors. Electric appliances for interior lighting were installed and connected.
Drying Chambers (August 2007)
Soft water was supplied to tank and sprays. A new soft water line was built for this system with pumps, water softener, buffer tank, etc.
New cables were run to provide electricity.
Installation of Machinery (July 2007)
The sawing machines were placed on a concrete structure
Next, conveyors and bands were placed on the metal structure and the machines at ground level.
Concrete Bases (June 2007)
Concrete bases were built for the machines. Their average height was 2 metres, which was adopted as work plane.
Enclosure of the Industrial Bay (May 2007)
Lateral enclosure with cement blocks and sheet metal, and translucent roof with aluminized sheet metal.

38 precast pillars and the metal structure for the roof and lateral enclosure were assembled.

The pad, made of 5 inch thick reinforced concrete, was made to cover a surface of 2.632 square yards
Machinery
Arrival of the first shipment of new sawmill machinery, from Brazil.
Earthwork (January 2007)
Includes the general removal of surface vegetation from the area of influence and later cut and fill activities. This work was divided into two great areas: the industrial bay (for the sawmill) and the nearby stockpile areas (for logs and chips).
The added materials were 7848 cubic yards of silt and granular material, according to the function of each project area.
